Casting with Bloomin' Bellies
What is the process?
A belly cast is a true-to-life replica of an expectant mother's belly.
The process is painless and fun.
At our studio the mother will have a thin cast produced of her stomach at whatever stage of the pregnancy she is interested in capturing. Some mothers choose to capture more than one stage of the pregnancy.
The process takes about 1 hour from start to finish.
The mother's job is done at this point.
We then reinforce and create a more sculptural piece of art from the thin cast.
It is our mission to capture as many details of the bellies as possible.
This new custom piece of art can be displayed in many different fashions.

Anna Soltys and Liz Frostick started collaborating creatively in 1993 while dancing together in their high school dance troupe.
They parted ways for college where Anna studied Psychology and Fine Art and Liz studied Photography and Business.
After college, Liz and Anna became roommates. Anna started experimenting with unique human forms in her painting, which coincided with Liz's first pregnancy.
Making a belly cast seemed like the perfect way to pool their creative energies and make a lasting memory of this remarkable time of change.
Between 2000 and 2005, Bloomin' Bellies provided casts for many families across the Midwest, including Liz's pregnancies with sons Liam and Harrison.
Each belly cast includes one black and white photo documenting the process. More extensive packages are available for purchase.
The creative process is something that each of their clients has felt very involved in.
"It is very important that each mother-to-be gives us an idea of her own style, so that this new addition fits well in her home," says Anna Soltys.
There are many ways to make this process unique and personalized. This one-of-a-kind result is very fun, safe, and affordable.
